EZId Freezes During Installation When Checking for Previously Installed Software

When installing EZId on a new 64-bit Windows 7 PC, the installation freezes while checking for previously installed software.

Environment:

64-bit Windows 7

Workaround:

The EZId installation program is searching for an ezid.ini file that is located at C:\Windows. The existence of the ezid.ini determines if this is a new installation or an update of EZId.

A security setting on specific PCs do not allow EZId to create the ezid.ini as part of the installation process.

Workaround:

  1. On a PC that already has EZId installed, locate the C:\Windows\ezid.ini file.
  2. Save the ezid.ini to a share on the server.
  3. Copy the ezid.ini file from the share into C:\Windows folder on the PC to be installed.
  4. Browse to your EZIdServer folder.
  5. Run the WSSetup.exe.
  6. The installation program will now complete successfully.
