Recovery From Database Disconnected When Teller Is Unable to Reconnect

EZTeller is designed so tellers can process transactions while database disconnected. If the teller stays on the same workstation using the same role, the transactions processed while database disconnected should upload once the connection to the database has been reestablished.

If working on a workstation that is database disconnected, tellers will receive a message when logging on or off reminding them that they should not move or change roles while database disconnected.

If tellers move between workstations or change roles while database disconnected, the software is unable to upload transactions and you will need to use the steps below to reconnect.

Environment:

EZTeller 5.0 or newer

Workaround:

  1. Have the teller print their Journal and their Totals so that they have a printed copy of their transactions.
  • To print the Journal: Select Admin > Journal Scan then select the Current Business Day query. Run the query; then, Print List.
  • To print the Totals: Select Admin > Totals; then, select Print.
  1. In Windows Explorer, browse to the appropriate folder:
  • On a WinXP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\EZTeller
  • On a Win7: C:\ProgramData\EZTeller
  1. Locate the file ezlocalcacheent.mdb and rename it to ezlocalcacheent.old.
  2. Restart EZTeller and adjust the role's cash.
  • If the starting cash is incorrect, select Other > Modify > Starting Cash and either Increase or Decrease as needed.
  • If the current cash is incorrect, select Mi$c > Receipt or Mi$c > Disburse and perform a transaction so the EZTeller cash amount matches the Current Cash amount on the printed Totals.
  • Important! Do not send validated tickets to Proof. You are adjusting the machine cash and you do not want to affect the GL accounts.
