ServicingDirector (Databases) Installer Information
Error:
ERROR object
Description =
ErrNumber = -2147216434
ServicingDirector (Databases) Setup has failed. If the problem persists, please contact Product Support.
Root Cause:
There can be more than one cause for this error, but the most common cause is an undetected connection still established to one of the ServicingDirector databases, preventing the SQL server from performintg the installation. The workaround/fix below addresses the most common problem of an undetected connection.
Workaround:
- Save a copy of the ServicingDirector (Databases) installation log file. This log file is named INLQ_Install.log, and is located on the Windows server C:\ drive's root folder or in the C:\SvcData root folder. The current file should have a Windows modified file date and that matches date and time of your most recent run of the installation program. Save a copy of the INLQ_Install.log by renaming it.
- Using Microsoft SQL support information, locate any existing connections to the ServicingDirector databases named Service and SvcEventMgr. The connections can be from a ServicingDirector application which is not closed, or from another source, such as SQL Server Management Studio. One method of locating the existing connections is to use the Microsoft-provided SQL Server Management Studio Activity Monitor.
- End the existing connections by closing the clients creating the connections, or otherwise terminate the connections. Restarting the SQL Server Windows service is one method of terminating all the connections to the SQL server.
- Run the ServicingDirector (Databases) installation program Setup.exe again.
