Servicing Director (Applications) - Installation
The path '<your network path>\SvcData' is invalid.
Please enter a valid path to the Reports folder.
Note: In the example above, the '<your network path>' is a placeholder, and your error message will have your network defined path to the \SvcData folder (either a UNC network path or mapped drive letter path).
Root Cause:
This is an error message from the Servicing Director application installation testing the contents of the \SvcData folder location provided.
The most common cause is a permission error caused by your Windows configuration, where your Windows account used to open the Servicing Director installation is denied access to the folder. Windows folder permissions, share permissions, or other security measures are intervening and preventing the Servicing Director installation from accessing the network shared \SvcData\Rpt folder location you provided.
Another possible cause is the expected \SvcData folder content is missing. The \SvcData folder contents are created by the Servicing Director database installation program.
Workaround:
Confirm you entered the correct location for where you have located the \SvcData folder on your network. This must be the same folder created or updated by the Servicing Director database installation program.
Resolve any permissions issues using Microsoft Windows methods to elevate or otherwise change your Windows permissions, granting your Windows user permission to read, write, modify, and delete from the \SvcData folder and the folders within the \SvcData folder. Be sure to not use the Windows "administrative" share (C$ or D$ for example) as your \SvcData shared folder, as this share is only for Windows administrators.
Your local IT should use Microsoft support as the support resource for how to change your Windows permissions.
If the \SvcData folder needs to have the contents recreated, then do this by uninstalling and reinstalling the database installation using the Servicing Director Installation or Upgrade guide instructions, making sure to select the \SvcData folder you want to recreate when prompted for the folder location.
