Servicing Director Customer Self-Service IRS Tax Forms Show Prior Reporting Year On Label But Form Boxes Have Current Reporting Year Values

When you view the Customer Self-Service IRS tax forms—the Annual statement or 1098 Mortgage Interest statement—the form label has the year for the prior reporting year in big bold print, but the form boxes are filled with the current reporting year values.

The form label is part of the document template, and the IRS document templates are updated once each year at or near the end of year by the Customer Self-Service end of year release or service pack.

Having the wrong year on the form labels indicates your Customer Self-Service system does not have the updated IRS documents.

The most common cause for not having the updated documents is your Customer Self-Service system has not been updated by the current Customer Self-Service end-of-year release or service pack.

Workaround:

Have your system administrator or IT apply the current Customer Self-Service end-of-year release or service pack to your system.

The end-of-year release or service pack will have an update for your Customer Self-Service business application web server, which includes the new IRS documents.

Once the release or service pack is applied to your business application server, your Customer Self-Service will have new IRS documents in the web server where you installed the Customer Self-Service product (the default is c:\inetpub\wwwroot\ILSWebBus\Rpt).  The new forms will be indicated by the Windows file properties showing modified dates newer than other documents, with dates from just before the release date of the current end-of-year release or service pack.

For a further troubleshooting step, have your system administrator or IT view the Windows Registry value on your business application web server which has the path to the IRS forms.

Use the Microsoft recommended procedures and precautions to view the following Registry value:

HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Interlinq>CSSReport

(or on a 32-bit Windows server: HKLM\Software\Interlinq>CSSReport)

The path should be to your the local folder, which contains the \ILSWebBus\Rpt folder.  By default, it will be c:\inetpub\wwwroot\ILSWebBus\rpt.

If the path is not correct for your system, then you can edit the value to match your path using the Microsoft procedures for editing the Registry. Again, be sure you use the Microsoft recommended precautions for editing the Registry, such as backing up the Registry first.
