Servicing Director Database Installation Program Fails with Error "Error: Found database (unattached?) file..."

ServicingDirector (Databases) Installer Information 

Found Database (unattached?) file at

TargetDBFolder-><file path>\<file name>_SysData_Data.mdf

Error:

Failed <database name> database install.

ServicingDirector (Databases) Setup has failed.  If the problem persists, please contact Product Support.


Root Cause:

The cause for this error is an error during an earlier attempt to perform the installation, and the earlier error caused the installation to fail midway and leave installation files behind.

Workaround:

Delete the installation files left behind from earlier failed attempt.

  1. Browse to the file folder described in the file path shown in your error message. 
  2. Delete any of the following files if found:
  • EventMgr_SysData_data.mdf
  • EventMgr_SysData_log.ldf
  • Service_Sysdata_data.mdf
  • Service_Sysdata_log.ldf
  1. Re-try the database installation carefully looking to capture the full and complete details of any other issue still present.
