Servicing Director Read-Only mode switches all users to "view" only security permissions for all screens and fields. Having "view" only permissions allows users to view borrower information and provide limited customer service to borrowers, but prevents users from entering new information or entering changes.
You can start Read-Only mode from any desktop with the Servicing Director applications, and starting Read-Only mode affects all users at the same time on all desktops.
Important: Be sure to know the ADMIN user password and successfully test logging in as the ADMIN user before starting Read-Only mode. Once you start Read-Only mode, the only user that can make changes or manually stop Read-Only mode is the user named ADMIN. No other user has or can have this ability. Also, only users in the "Default" security group will see the Event Manager Read-Only options described below. Therefore the Event Manager option to start Read-Only mode is available to all users in the "Default" group, but only the Admin user can stop Read-Only mode.
The Event Manager application Run All scheduled events can use Read-Only mode. When you run Event Manager, you can select to automatically start Read-Only mode when the Run All scheduled events begins, and stop Read-Only mode when all the scheduled events are completed successfully.
Note: If you run the Event Manager application unattended through a scheduling program to perform the Run All scheduled events late at night, then you should not allow Read-Only mode during the time the unattended Event Manager is scheduled to run.
You can also manually start Read-Only mode for special purposes, such as just before starting an upgrade or while researching a problem.
To allow Read-Only mode so it is available to be started automatically by Event Manager or manually by a user:
- Open the System Administration application.
- Click Security Setup.
- Click Read-Only, and the Read-Only Settings screen will appear.
- Select the Allow Read-only Mode checkbox. Read-Only mode can only be started after the Allow Read-only Mode checkbox is selected.
- Click OK.
Note: If you run the Event Manager application unattended through a scheduling program to perform the Run All scheduled events late at night, the Run All scheduled events will automatically run in Read-Only mode. If there should be an event failure during the events, the unattended Event Manager will likely never close, you will be unable to access that instance of the Event Manager application, and the Event Manager option to stop Read-Only mode will not be available, leaving the Read-Only mode started. In this case, you will have to stop Read-Only mode using the Admin user account and the Read-Only Settings screen. Therefore, you can allow Read-Only mode for short time for special purposes, but be sure to disallow Read-Only mode before the unattended Event Manager is scheduled to run.
To disallow Read-Only mode so it is not available to be started automatically by Event Manager or manually by a user:
- Open the System Administration application.
- Click Security Setup.
- Click Read-Only, and the Read-Only Settings screen will appear.
- Clear the selection of the Allow Read-only Mode checkbox. Read-Only mode will not be started after the Allow Read-only Mode checkbox is cleared.
- Click OK.
To start Read-Only mode manually:
- Open the System Administration application.
- Click Security Setup.
- Click Read-Only, and the Read-Only Settings screen will appear.
- Select the Start Read-only Mode checkbox. Read-Only mode can only be started after the Allow Read-only Mode checkbox is selected.
- Click OK.
To stop Read-Only mode manually:
- Open the System Administration application.
- Click Security Setup.
- Click Read-Only, and the Read-Only Settings screen will appear.
- Select the Start Read-only Mode checkbox to uncheck it.
- Click OK.
To start Read-Only mode manually using Event Manager:
- Open the Event Manager application.
- Select the Enable Read-Only on Run All checkbox at the bottom of the screen next to the Run All button. If the checkbox is not displayed, make sure the Allow Read-only Mode checkbox is selected as described in the steps above, and then close and reopen the Event Manager application. The Event Manager option to start Read-Only mode is available to all users in the "Default" group, but only the Admin user can stop Read-Only mode.
- When you click the Run All button with the Enable Read-Only on Run All checkbox selected, Read-Only mode will automatically be started before the first event run, and will remain started while all the scheduled events are run. After all the scheduled events are successfully completed, the Read-Only mode will be automatically stopped. Note, that if any events fail for any reason, usually shown by a red X in the list of events and error messages, then the Read-Only mode will not be automatically stopped. By leaving the Read-Only mode started, the Event Manager application is giving you the opportunity to resolve the event failure(s) before users can start making new changes. When Event Manager leaves Read-Only mode started, it will prompt the user at the end of the scheduled events with this message:
"Read-Only mode is still active due to the failed event(s). Do you want to turn OFF Read-Only mode?"
- To stop Read-Only mode, click Yes. If you click No, then the Read-Only mode will remain started, and you have to stop it manually using the procedures described above.
- The Enable Read-Only on Run All checkbox selection is not saved when you close Event Manager, and you will have to select it again the next time you open Event Manager and want to manually start Read-Only mode.
