Finding the Servicing Director SQL Server Name
The Servicing Director applications use Windows ODBC Data Sources configured with the Microsoft SQL Server driver to connect to the Servicing Director SQL Server. Data Sources for Servicing Director are automatically created by the Servicing Director application installation program, and you can view the Windows ODBC Data Sources should you need to do so.
IMPORTANT! The procedure below is for your local IT or system administrator familiar with Windows and Microsoft SQL Server.
The procedure describes how to use the Windows ODBC Data Source Administrator, and view the System Data Sources named Servicing to find the name of the Servicing Director SQL Server.
View the Servicing Director ODBC Data Sources from a computer with the Servicing Director applications as follows:
- On a Windows 7 or 8 32-bit computer, go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC).
- On a Windows 7 or 8 64-bit computer, run C:\WindowsSysWOW64\odbcad32.exe.
- On a Windows 8.1, go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > ODBC Data Sources (32-bit).
- Select the System DSN tab on the ODBC Data Source Administrator screen.
- Click on the System DSN named Servicing.
- Click the Configure button.
- You will find the Servicing Director SQL Server name displayed in the Server field, under the configuration item titled:
Which SQL Server do you want to connect to?
The SQL Server named displayed will the be Windows computer name of your server, and the computer name may end with the optional backslash character and the add-on SQL Server instance name. The optional SQL Server instance name allows the Windows computer to have more than one copy of SQL Server running on the same server. If the SQL Server name displayed does have the optional SQL Server instance name, than always use the full name displayed with the instance name when referring to your SQL Server.
- Click Cancel, and close the ODBC Data Source Administrator screen.
