Upgrading SQL Server for Fusion Servicing Director 19.1

Fusion Servicing Director 19.1 requires you to have Microsoft SQL Server version 2014 or 2016 on your server.

Previous versions of Servicing Director could use older versions of SQL Server, but older versions are not supported with 19.1.

The version prior to 19.1 is version 18.4, and version 18.4 is not supported on SQL Server version 2014 or 2016.

The information below is for your local IT or system administrator familiar with Windows and Microsoft SQL Server.

Review the following:

  1. Servicing Director System Requirements. Please search Finastra Customer Success Community Knowledge Center for the related article using the key words Servicing Director System Requirements.

  3. Servicing Director backups. Please search the Finastra Customer Success Community Knowledge Center for the related article using the key words Servicing Director Backups.

 

Prepare for upgrading SQL Server:

  1. Complete any significant Servicing Director business transactions, such as the end of month or monthly billing statements.
  2. Have all users exit Servicing Director.
  3. Review your configuration for any optional interfaces or add-on software that may need to change if you change your Servicing Director SQL server.
  4. Backup your Servicing Director databases.

 

Upgrade SQL Server using one of the following:

  1. Move to another Windows server with a newer version of SQL Server:
  • The other Windows server will need to meet the Servicing Director system requirements.
  • The newer version of SQL Server will need to be installed with the Servicing Director SQL Server required configuration settings.

  1. Upgrade SQL Server in place:
  • With your SQL 2005 Server still installed, use the procedures provided with the newer versions of Microsoft SQL Server to upgrade and replace the SQL Server, keeping the Servicing Director databases in place and online.

Note: If your existing version of Microsoft SQL Server Express, then you may have Microsoft imposed limitations on which newer SQL products can perform an in-place upgrade.  For more information, refer to Microsoft SQL Server support information.

  • The newer version of SQL Server will need to be installed with the Servicing Director SQL Server required configuration settings.
  • For more information about upgrading SQL Server in place, please see your Microsoft SQL support information.

  • No other Servicing Director product changes are required.

  • Configure your backup tools to backup the databases on the SQL Server instance.

 

  1. Move to another SQL Server instance on the same server:
  • More than one instance of SQL can be installed on a single server.
  • Servicing Director can use a SQL Server instance as the SQL Server.
  • The newer version of SQL Server will need to have been installed with the Servicing Director SQL Server required configuration settings.
  • For more information about installing a SQL Server instance, please see your Microsoft SQL support information.

  • Once you have another SQL Server instance with a newer version of SQL Server, backup your Servicing Director databases named Service and SvcEventMgr and restore them on the SQL Server instance.

  • Configure your backup tools to backup the databases on the SQL Server instance.

  • On the old SQL Server, use Microsoft SQL Server procedures to take the Service and SvcEventMgr databases offline.
