Changing the Servicing Director ODBC Data Sources to To Use a Different Microsoft SQL Server

The Servicing Director applications use Windows ODBC Data Sources configured with the Microsoft SQL Server driver to connect to the Servicing Director SQL server.

The Data Sources for Servicing Director are automatically created by the Servicing Director application installation program.

There are just two ODBC Data Sources for the SQL server, and they are named "Servicing" and "ServEM."

The Data Sources configure the SQL server name (or SQL server instance name) and the database names.  The Data Sources do not configure the SQL server login credentials used by the Servicing Director applications, and the applications will use their own product provided credentials to login.

Change the Servicing Director ODBC Data Sources authentication as follows:

  1. Depending on which version of Windows you have, find and open the correct Control Panel:
  • On a Windows 32-bit computer, go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources, and select the System DSN tab.
  • On a Windows 7 or 8, 64-bit computer, run C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe.
  • On a Windows 8.1 64-bit computer, go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > ODBC Data Sources (32-bit).
  1. Click the Data Source name "Servicing" to highlight it.
  2. Click the Configure button.
  3. Change the Server field on the DSN Configuration screen.

You can enter the correct Microsoft SQL Server name (or Microsoft SQL Server Named Instance in the format ServerName\InstanceName), or you can select it from the list of servers on the list. Make no other selections or changes.
  4. Click Finish.

This completes the procedure to change the primary Servicing Director Data Source named "Servicing."  Repeat the same procedure using the Data Source name "ServEM" instead of Servicing.
