Creating the Servicing Director General Letter Word Mail Merge Event

The General letter is a basic letter with a basic borrower name and address block,your company name, and the loan ID. This letter is designed as a basic template and made to fit into a #10 left-window envelope. This letter comes in both the Crystal Reports and Word Mail Merge format.

The Crystal Reports letter event is in the Event Manager Available Events under the Customer Service Letters with the name C General Letter. 

The Word Mail Merge letter is called "genltr.doc" and is in the \SvcData\Rpt folder, but by default, there is no Event Manager event for this letter.

This article describes how to create the Word Mail Merge letter as an event. 


  1. Open Event Manager, and then click Events > Maintenance > Events. The Events screen appears.
  2. Click New. The Event Details screen appears.
  3. Enter a name for the General Letter event such as "General Letter". 
  4. Select the category "Customer Service" and the group "Letters".
  5. From the drop-down list, select the executable Mail Merge Wrapper.
  6. Click Criteria. The appropriate Event Criteria screen appears.
  7. Enter the Document file name "Genltr.doc".
  8. Enter the Query Name "R_General_Letter". You can also specify whether you want to add a comment when you print the letter.
  9. Click OK. The Events screen reappears.
  10. Click Close. The Event Manager screen reappears.

Now that the General Letter Word Mail Merge event is created, you can add it to your Event Manager events as needed. 

Note: The General Letter will create a document for every loan unless the event is provided some event criteria to limit the number of documents created. The event will by default have criteria available for the event.
