CTR Records Cannot Be Deleted, the Only Option Is to Mark as Inactive.

A CTR was created in error and you would like to remove it.

Some CTR records are created based on transactions processed by the tellers while others are forced through EZTeller or Superview.

Even though a CTR does not need to be filed, it was created. You can mark the CTR as Inactive but you cannot delete it.

Environment:

EZTeller

Workaround:

  1. Open Superview; then, select Bank as your working group.
  2. Click on CTR > CTR Main Menu > #1 Currency Transaction Reporting (CTR) Activity.
  3. Define search criteria and locate the CTR record; then, click View Details.
  4. Put a checkmark in the Inactive box; once a CTR has been marked Inactive, you cannot reactivate it.
  • If you are running EZTeller release 5.2 or newer, a box will come up after you click on OK where you can explain the reason why the record is being marked as inactive.
  1. When you View Details on an inactive CTR record, there is an Inactive Details button in release 5.2 and newer.
  • You will be able to see the reason the CTR record was marked Inactive.
  • Because the record is marked as status X, it will not be included in CTR batches.

By retaining the CTR record, you have a better audit trail than an option to delete the record.
