Configuring EZTeller to Use Windows Authentication

EZTeller offers the choice of SQL or Windows authentication.

When Windows authentication is enabled in the license file, banks are not required to add individual users in SQL. Users are added to the active directory group and that group is added in SQL.

There is a built-in process to move from SQL to Windows authentication.

There are two Windows authentication license file options:

  • Authentication=1: Tellers click the EZTeller icon and log in using their network password, and then select their role.
  • Authentication=2: Tellers click the EZTeller icon and select their roles. This is referred to as single sign-on.

An additional license setting allows software to automatically convert users from SQL to Windows: Conversion Expiration=12/31/2020

Employees converting their own SQL login to Windows authentication:

  1. Copy the license file into the EZTeller server folder.
  2. Log on to the network at an EZTeller or Superview workstation using your own network sign-on.
  3. Click the icon to start Superview or EZTeller
  4. When the following message appears, enter your SQL login user name and password: Unable to find Windows User Name; DOMAIN/USERNAME.
  5. At the Log In Superview or EZTeller screen, enter your current SQL user name and password. Click OK.
  6. At the next Log In Superview or EZTeller screen, the domain and network login will pre-fill. Enter your network password and OK. EZTeller has associated your network login to your employee record.

Administrator converts logins for employees within Superview:

  1. Copy the license file into the EZTeller server folder.
  2. Log in to Superview.

Note: If this is the first time you have logged in with Windows authentication, follow the steps above.

  1. Click Bank > Employee.
  2. Highlight an employee's name and click Edit. The SQL Login drop-down has been replaced with Windows Login.
  3. Click Select User.
  4. Enter the user's name in the box and click check names > OK. The employee's login shows in the Windows Login field.

When the employee starts EZTeller or Superview, they will no longer use their SQL password. EZTeller has now associated the employee record with their network login.
