Servicing Director Event Manager Letter Event Error: Make sure Word is installed

Failed to Create Word.Application object, error code is -2147024891.  Make sure Word is installed.

Exit code = 2010

Root Cause:

Some letter events are Word Mail Merge documents, and these events require the Windows computer running the event to have Microsoft Word installed and the Windows user running Event Manager needs to have access to it.

Note: There are Crystal Reports versions of the letters also provided by Servicing Director, and the Crystal Reports letter events do not require Word.

Workaround:

This information is for your local IT or System Administrator:

  1. Confirm that Word is locally installed on the computer running Event Manager, and the version of the Word must be a supported version listed in System Requirements for Fusion Servicing Director 21.1 and 21.2. If you have a different version, search the knowledge base for the system requirements for it.
  2. Confirm the Windows user running Event Manager can interactively open Word and open the letter template document for the letter event reporting the error.  The letter template document will be in the \SvcData\Rpt network shared folder configured for the Servicing Director applications.
  3. If the error persists after you have confirmed the above, then confirm the Windows user has access to connect to the Word 97-2003 COM components using the Windows Component Services console. One shortcut to having this access can be to have the Windows user added to the local computer's Administrator group.
