Servicing Director Security Settings for the Event Manager Application

Servicing Director Security Settings for the Event Manager Application

The Event Manager application runs events, such as imports and exports, updates, letters, and reports.

Events accomplish much of the processing that happens in Servicing Director.

Update events can populate tables with data, process calculations, and create data that can be used to import or export data.

You should consider limiting access to the Event Manager application to make sure only the users you want to run Events have access to the Event Manager application.

There are two ways to open the Event Manager application.

One way is to open Event Manager directly from the System Administration application, clicking the Event Manager button.

  • You must have the group security "Allow Access" granted for the Event Manager application to be allowed to open Event Manager in this way.
  • You will have full access to Event Manager, including all available events, and all the scheduled events.

Another way is to open Event Manager from another Servicing Director application (other than System Administration) by clicking the menu File > Event.

  • You must have the group security "View" granted for the Event screen to be allowed to open Event Manager in this way.
  • You will have full or partial access to Event Manager, depending on whether you have the Event Manager "Allow Access" setting above.

Notice that opening Event Manager using the menu File > Event can lead to different access in Event Manager depending on your security settings. The following describes the access you can have:

Users with the group security "Allow Access" granted for the Event Manager application and opening Event Manager using the menu File > Event will have full access to Event Manager, including all available events and all the scheduled events.

Users without the group security "Allow Access" granted for the Event Manager application and opening Event Manager using the menu File > Event will have partial access to Event Manager, as follows:

  • The list of available events will be a partial list. Only the available events in specific event categories will be listed. The categories shown depend on which applications you have access to. There are event categories for each application, and the category name will match the name of the application. If you have security access to one or more applications, then the category for each application will be displayed. For example, if your user's group security has "Allow Access" granted to only the Customer Service application, then the partial list of available events will show only the Customer Service category of available events. Available events in event categories for applications you do not have access to will not be listed at all.
  • You can drag over any available events shown on the partial list of available event to run an event.
  • You can schedule a new event.
  • You can delete a recurring instance of a scheduled event.
  • The initial list of scheduled events displayed will be blank, which is also known as Scratch Pad mode.
  • The Event Manager menu View > Today's Instances will be enabled. If you select Today's Instances, scheduled events may show replacing the blank list. The only scheduled events eligible to display are those events which belong to categories which are for applications you have access to.  For example, if your user's group security has "Allow Access" granted to only the Customer Service application, then the scheduled events which can appear are only the scheduled events from the Customer Service category of available events. All other scheduled events in event categories for applications you do not have access to will not be listed at all.
  • Most other Event Manager menus will be disabled.

The available security is described above, granting access to the Event Manager and category sets of events.

There is no event level security available at this time, and the Event Manager application doesn't provide a method to grant or deny access to individual events.
