EZid is not Defaulting to Correct Scanner Definition for the Scanning Workstation
A workstation has one model of scanner but when a user scans a document, the scanner definition is defaulting to one that is used by another model of scanner. User has the option to manually select the appropriate definition but would prefer the correct definition for the scanner brand to be the default.
Environment:
EZid
Workaround:
Note: All users must have full permission on the C:\Windows\ezid.ini file and on the EZidServer folder. Drivers for the scanner must be installed on the workstation.
Steps to create Scanner Definition when there are multiple brands of scanners within the branch:
- Browse to the EZidServer location and delete the scanner definitions.
- Scanner definition files have a .def extension.
- If you do not know the folder location, it can be found in the: C:\Windows\ezid.ini\LocationofMainDrive=
- Log into EZid with an Admin role and go to Admin > Options > Scanning properties.
- Click on the New Def. button.
- Type in a Definition Name that reflects the scanner name and document, examples: HP 8x11 or CanoScan 8x11.
- You will be asked "Do you wish to add this scanner definition to the server as well?" Answer No.
- Edit the definition, selecting the scanning device from the drop-down menu and then click on Apply.
- Go to Admin > Option and under Scanner Options, select the correct Default Scanner Definition from the drop-down menu and click on the Apply button. The correct scanner definition is now on the workstation.
- Repeat these steps at each scanning workstation.
Banks running the same brand scanner for all workstations can configure the Scanner Definition setup at one workstation and answer Yes to save to server.
